TABU: Territory of Avant-garde. The Big Ural

On July 10, 2019 "Na Shabolovke" Gallery (part of the Moscow City Galleries Network) presents the exhibition "TABU: Territory of Avant-garde. The Big Ural", based on project that were shown at the 4-th Ural Industrial Biennale of contemporary art.
In exhibition the architecture of soviet avant-garde, located in Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Krasnokamsk, Perm, Magnitogorsk, etc. is represented in a context of social experience of the epoch.
The connectedness of new architecture forms, poetics of grand accomplishments, unsettled living and sense of existential uncertainty is conducted through novells, archive photographies and diaries.
Curators, using photofixation, suggest us to look at all that remains of the architecture of the first five years of the USSR from different points of view. They give to spectators the choose between three strategies of reading avant-garde's heritage: refusing, observation and admiring.
